Nude City of Barcelona
Pamphlets
were handed out in recent days by nudists wearing only a smile.
With nudity profiled in the tourist focused pamphlets, produced
with government aid, it makes Barcelona look like a haven for
nudists. The mayor says that the city does not encourage people
to "go nude in the street."
"If someone
is walking the streets naked, the police will invite him to get
dressed." Barcelona's government said it respected nudists' rights.
The Catalan
regional parliament allows cities to make laws on nudity, and
Barcelona has none, as the pamphlet points out. Nudist groups
Addan and Aleteia signed the fliers, which bore the city department
for women and civil rights logo. "Economic aid was given to two
associations that promote nudism just as other groups have been
subsidized, but this does not mean we are promoting it," the city
spokesman said.
