Illinois
House Bans Homosexual Discrimination
Gov.
Rod Blagojevich called it "a landmark day in Illinois" and said
he looked forward to signing the legislation of a ban discrimination
of gays and lesbians. The bill will add "sexual orientation" to
the state law that protects people from bias based on race, religion
and similar traits. It applies to discrimination in jobs, housing,
public accommodations or credit. It is not about getting special
rights, but about the rights that all human beings rightfully
deserve and we applaud this with sadness in our hearts knowing
that many other places still allow discrimination against homosexuals
with no consequences.
