Georgia Tries To Pass Ban On Gay Marriages

Democrats and Republicans in Georgia's House of Representatives have proposed an amendment to their state's constitution banning same-sex marriages. Same-sex marriages are already barred by Georgia law, but legislators want to amend the state's constitution in order to solidify their position.

Georgia voters will decide this fall whether to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage, even if the unions are performed in other states.
