An adult
bookstore is cleaning up after a chemical attack by a homemade
device that investigators are calling a "weapon of mass destruction."
In Waldo, FL people have held prayer vigils and protests aimed
at an adult bookstore along US 301, trying to keep the "Cafe Risque"
from opening its doors on time. Those efforts have all failed,
so investigators say it looks like someone has turned to what
they're calling a clear act of terrorism to keep the store's owner
from opening up shop.
The device
was made of two gallon-size sports drink jugs connected by hoses.
Someone set it on top of the store's window air conditioning unit.
Detectives say that person then strung one hose from a water spigot
on the outside of the building, and pushed another hose into the
building through a gap above the air conditioner. "That water
hose would churn it up, mix it up in the gallon jug, and enter
it into the building. We do know that it was caustic, it was corrosive,
it had a high pH level," Faulk said.
Nobody was
hurt by the chemical, but investigators say cleaning it up could
cost more than $15,000. Add that to the HAZMAT bill of around
$15,000, and you can see how costly the event has been. The scale
was small -- only one room was ruined -- but detectives say the
punishment will be much more substantial.
Under state
law, by the book, deputies say the device is a weapon of mass
destruction. "They're looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars
in fines, and... 30 years in jail," Faulk said. "You're trying
to hurt people. You're trying to change their ideas or instill
fear. And that's exactly what the terrorists do. So this person
is a local terrorist," he said.

& Murderer Taking Pictures Of Adult Store Patrons

Patrons of
adult stores in Louisville, KY and Uniontown, IN have recently
been victims of an effort to shame them by posting their photos
online at War-line.com, a Website supposedly dedicated to a war
against rape.
A Christian
activist group has been demonstrating outside a Lion’s Den in
Uniontown and posting photos to the site as well as handing out
bibles and “witnessing,” which has, according to an Agape News
report, resulted in a number of store patrons being “saved.”
In the meantime,
War-line Webmaster John Reneer has been targeting a Fern Valley
Road adult store in Louisville with his camera, managing to capture
images of patrons even though store owner Jeff Keinhans has set
up sprinklers and parked semi-trailers to try to block the camera’s
view.
Here is the
best part... Reneer is a convicted felon, now on probation for
armed robbery, sodomy and murder. "I can't change what I've done,"
Reneer told Gum. "I'm not going to try and hide it. I'm just going
to try to make a difference now."
Perhaps Reneer
needs to realize that just because he has problems with adult
material certainly does not mean the rest of us do. In fact, it
seems that anyone who goes out of their way to harass people exercising
their rights as adults is the one with the problem.
It is kinda
like obese people picketing the super market... we don't all have
issues with food some of us can handle it just fine thank you.

A survey by
Nielsen NetRatings shows Britain to be the fastest growing market
for adult entertainment on the Internet. One in four adults, including
1.6 million women, download images each month, according to the
study. More than nine million men -- almost 40 per cent of Britain's
male population -- viewed adult Websites last year compared with
an estimated two million in 2000. One in four men aged 25 to 49
-- 2.5 million -- visited an adult Website in the last month alone.
1.5 million women viewed adult entertainment on the Internet pornography
in the last 12 months, up from one million in the previous year.
Men and women spent an average 40 minutes each month looking at
adult Websites while half of all couples watch adult entertainment
on the Internet together. British Web users look up the word "porn"
on search engines more than any other word.

The extent
of potential spying by the U.S. Government on Internet communications
may reach even further than in our worst nightmares, according
to testimony -- and now new documentation supporting that testimony
-- from Former AT&T technician Mark Klein, who came forward to
support an Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) lawsuit against
AT&T for its alleged complicity in National Security Administration
electronic surveillance. Wired News published Klein's public statement,
in which he describes a secret room at the AT&T Central Office
in San Francisco, a room in which equipment was installed (in
2003) capable of conducting what amounts to “vacuum-cleaner” surveillance
of all the data crossing the Internet -- whether that be peoples'
e-mail, Web surfing or any other data.
Now, documents
(and photos) have been released by court order and published by
Wired News that seem to support Klein’s accusations. The new information
“shook the blogosphere,” according to Dan Mitchell, writing for
the New York Times, but have not yet rung alarm bells in the mainstream
media. Klein’s testimony and the newly revealed documents are
indeed paranoia-inducing, a Big Brother scenario.

Sniffing For Ways To Violate Rights

During a private
meeting that included Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, FBI Director
Robert Mueller, and representatives of AOL, Comcast, Google, Microsoft
and Verizon, Gonzales reportedly said that requiring Internet
service providers to save records of their customers' online activities
is necessary in the fight against terrorism, a statement that
represents a departure from his earlier emphasis on how mandatory
data retention would help thwart child exploitation. (See X-Press
Report, “ISP Record Retention Rules Considered,” 4/21/06) Under
the original proposal, Internet service providers would be required
to retain records for specified periods of time in order to facilitate
the investigation and prosecution of child predators.
Breast
Stimulation Not To Be Overlooked
June 2006
New results
published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has found that 82%
of women find that breast stimulation increases their sexual arousal.
In men, the figure is only 52% with only 7–8% reporting that it
decreased their arousal.

Doesn't Induce Labor As Old Wives Tell It
Despite a
widely believed old wives' tale, having sex near the end of pregnancy
won't speed up the start of labor. In fact, it might even delay
labor onset for a few days.
"Patients
may continue to hear the 'old wives' tale' that intercourse will
hasten labor, but according to this data, they should not hear
it from the medical community," said Jonathan Schaffir, M.D.,
of the Ohio State Medical Center.
"Many pregnant
women (and some physicians) believe that sexual intercourse at
term will hasten the onset of labor," Dr. Schaffir noted in the
June issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology. To test the issue, he enrolled
95 women in a study evaluating the effect of intercourse in the
weeks before delivery.
The sexually
active women delivered their babies at an average gestational
age of 39.9 weeks, compared with 39.3 weeks in the abstinent group.
The difference, about four days, was statistically significant
at P=0.001, but not clinically significant, Dr. Schaffir said.
While there's
no apparent morbidity associated with having sex late in pregnancy,
Dr. Schaffir said, there's also no data suggesting that physicians
should recommend it.
