Playboy
Going Hardcore?
Dr.
Don Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association, a prominent
pro-family leader is out to stop the porn industry. Adelphia Communications
announced last week that it will soon begin offering hard-core pornographic
material supplied by Playboy Enterprises which has caused Wildmon,
to go wild and to publicly ridicule and attempt to illicit the Department
of Justice to put an end to this.
However,
according to Adelphia's West Coast spokesman, Bob Gold, those
reports were premature as the hardcore programming will only be
available on a trial basis to a "very small" number of subscribers
in the Los Angeles area. "A wide rollout (of the programming)
... would not happen until later this year, if at all," he said.
So Wildmon is not only out to put an end to porn but is a bit
"premature."
Adelphia,
America's fifth-largest cable company, had previously avoided
airing such programming; and Playboy, which once only dealt in
soft-core porn, has started to move in the direction of producing
harder pornographic material because the adult public has indicated
a desire to have it, which is what is prompting them to do more
test marketing.
According to Dr. Wildmon, that has given a "green light" to pornographers
in America to "trade their wares without worry." Apparently, he
believes that those in the porn industry should be worried? Why,
because they provide adults with adult material?
No,
apparently Wildmon has been warning parents: "Because of the addictive
nature of pornography, the pornographers know that if they capture
the children, they will have customers for many, many years."
Yet,
the proposed pornography is not geared toward children, it should
not even be accessible to children if parents are monitoring the
child's TV habits, and warnings are very clear telling people
that this content is for adults only, so why Wildmon makes an
ass of himself by claiming that makers of adult material are out
to sell their wares to children.
The
other aspect of this is that porn is not inherently addictive.
A person has to have an imbalanced sexual nature to become addicted
to porn. The fundamentalist Right that would have you believe
their junk science that porn is addictive has never proven that
it is.. why? Because it isn't. They want to use that argument
they better start banning sports, and religious programs and other
things people can become addicted to watching because it is not
the actual program that one is viewing that is addictive, it is
the rare imbalanced person that would become addicted to it that
is the issue.
A
trend in not acknowledging real science...
Let's
talk about imbalance for a moment... imbalance is the cause of
dysfunction. The kind of dysfunction you see when a ultra conservative
is found to be a hypocrite and is not only gay but actively speaking
out against gays much like Jeff Gannon. Or how about the minister
that speaks of the abomination of child molesters and is busy
in his spare time molesting small boys in the Boy Scout troop
he leads?
Imbalance
is not pretty, and it is often easily identified by the people
that speak the loudest about it... as Shakespeare said "...doth
protest too much, methinks."
Apparently
he must be afraid to say that the real reason he does not want
porn out there is because it threatens him... because it does
not threaten adults who enjoy the entertainment, it isn't to be
viewed by children nor is it intended to be, so it must threaten
him.
Why
would sexuality threaten him? It is natural, it is beautiful,
and apparently he has not embraced the fact that some people are
okay with that. It is fine that he chooses not to watch it himself,
but to demand that the Department of Justice make it illegal and
threaten those dare produce it because he does not care for it?
