Neoprene
Guide
To Materials
Sex
Toys & More
Neoprene is
a trademarked name for a group of synthetic rubbers. Neoprene
is a tough, temperature resistant material that can withstand
a lot of twisting and flexing without damage. Neoprene was the
first mass produced synthetic rubber compound.
Example
Neoprene
is used to make some harnesses and BDSM equipment.
Some of the
other uses of Neoprene are wetsuits, laptop sleeves and electrical
insulation
Allergy
Or Toxin Warnings
Some people are allergic to neoprene while others can get dermatitis
from thiourea, a compound used to vulcanize rubber into neoprene
which can be left over after the manufacturing process.
Lead-containing
compounds, such as litharge (lead oxide), are used as compounding
agents to prepare finished products made of neoprene. These can
have a toxic effect on human blood, kidneys, and reproductive
systems
Cleaning
Recommendations
Neoprene is resistant to dirt penetration due to the tight weave
of the material. It is easily cleaned with mild soap, warm water
and wiped with a soft cloth.
Lubricants
Waterbased
or Silicone.
