Green Sex: Environmentally Friendly
We emphasize the importance of making sure that you and the one you love to stay healthy using nontoxic sexual products such as sex toys, personal lubricants, and more. However, what if you also want to take care of the planet and ensure that you are not creating a toxic environment? You may be wondering just how you can make your romantic life greener, so below are some suggestions including eco-friendly sex toys.
Green Sex Toys & Biodegradable Bioplastics
Some of the sex toys that we carry are made out of bioplastics. Vibrators and other sex toys crafted from bioplastics, such as Biofeel or Biolene are plant-based materials known as PLA (polylactic acid), and are made from the sugars in corn starch, cassava, or sugarcane. While it is true that they are biodegradable, compostable, and may reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, it is crucial to understand that they must be taken to a local industrial composting facility to be commercially composted.
Commercially compostable means that bioplastic sex toys can only be composted in a controlled environment, such as an industrial composting facility where oxygen and control temperatures are monitored. Biodegradable plastic only breaks down completely and is composted by microorganisms under the right conditions. Bioplastics cannot be put in your backyard and composted properly. However, when they are taken to a commercial composting facility, they will biodegrade within 47-90 days.
Bioplastics cannot be recycled with other plastics as they can contaminate batches of recycled plastic and harm recycling infrastructure. They should also not be thrown out and put in a landfill due to the risk that they will be deprived of oxygen, which can cause them to release methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Are Elastomer Sex Toys Recyclable?
There are unethical or uninformed sex toy retailers that spread misinformation and claim that you can recycle elastomer sex toys. This, unfortunately, simply is not the case. The reality is that these items are not recyclable, and it is imperative that consumers are educated about this fact to prevent further harm to the environment by trying to put them in with their recycling. By raising awareness and promoting transparency, we can help to ensure that consumers make informed decisions about their purchases, and work towards a more sustainable future.

Other Sensual Ways To Be Eco Conscious
Green Fabrics
Using sexy lingerie and bedding that is good for the environment can make you feel even better about yourself. Look for fair-trade and organic fabrics made from hemp silk, organic cotton, bamboo, and other renewable fibers.
Local Plants & Flowers
Buy locally grown and seasonal plants and flowers when romancing your lover. Because they are already there, they require fewer fossil fuel usage to get them to the store where you purchase them. We recommend buying plants rather than flowers to keep them growing, an outstanding contribution to the environment.
Organic Wine
By drinking certified organically grown grapes, you will avoid chemical fertilizers, insecticides, weed killers, and other synthetic chemicals that can not only be bad for your health but the earth as well.
Organic Chocolates
By consuming organic and Fair Trade-certified™ chocolates, you not only make sure you take care of humanity and the earth while enjoying the sexy health benefits and pleasure of chocolate. Organic chocolates promote biodiversity, sustainable growing practices, the elimination of exposure chemicals used on cocoa to grow it, and fumigants used during export. Making sure it is Fair Trade-certified™, you ensure more fair prices for the farmer, diversification to promote economic health, and to eliminate child labor.
