Allow Sex Toys To Breathe
Sex toys can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew if stored in something that cannot breathe, such as a ziplock bag. That is why we recommend using breathable storage bags to allow air to get to them and keep them dry. Moisture from having washed your sex toys can linger and contribute to your sex toys developing bacteria, mold, and mildew while they are in storage. Storing them in breathable bags or storage devices will help prevent that.
Keep Sex Toys Separate
Some sex toys should ideally be kept separate from one another. The reason for this is because sex toy materials such as elastomer, jelly can interact with one another, causing chemical reactions that can discolor and even melt your sex toys. There are a few exceptions to this such as glass, metal and pure silicone sex toys.
This leads us to bring up the problem with assuming your sex toy is silicone. Unfortunately, there are sex toy manufacturers and retailers that claim to sell silicone sex toys when they are not made out of silicone. Some may blatantly lie about it, while others may mislead you by telling you it is a silicone blend. These materials are porous and fall under the category of materials such as elastomers, such as TPE or TPR. Examples of non-silicone sex toys that sound like they are made of silicone are TPR-Silicone, Cyber-Silicone, and Silicone-Elastomer Blends.
The bottom line, if a sex toy is not 100% silicone, do not store it with other sex toys. If you are unsure, err on the side of keeping them separate. See our How To Tell If Your Sex Toy Is Silicone Guide.
How To Store Sex Toys Separately
You can use a variety of things to store your sex toys separately. From putting socks over them to using breathable sex toy storage bags, you can ensure that the sex toys do not touch one another but can breathe and keep dry. You can also get a storage container that will keep them separated for you.
Locking Your Sex Toys Up
If you are concerned that someone may come across your sex toy collection, there are several discreet sex toy storage options that we carry, such as hiding them in a pillow that has a special hidden compartment, storing them in a special sex toy storage bag under clothing hanging in your closet and lockable storage cases that hide under clothes like the Sneaky Sack.
Clean Your Sex Toys Before You Store Them
Cleaning your sex toy before you put it away is important as not doing so can contribute to an infection or STD. See our excellent comprehensive guide on How To Clean Sex Toys that details how to clean sex toys based on the material(s) from which they are made.
Make Sure Sex Toys Are Dry
Before you put your sex toy away, make sure that it has been allowed to air dry thoroughly or that it will be stored where it can air dry. This will avoid moisture causing bacteria, mold, and mildew to grow on it.
UV Sanitizer Options
You can always opt to get a cleaning system that uses ultraviolet light to safely sanitize your intimate playthings. These are similar to those used for cell phone sanitizing but with room for large sex toys. Uvee sex toy storage features the UV sanitizing option.
Take Your Batteries Out
Do not store sex toys with batteries, and make sure that you read our Sex Toys & Batteries Guide for more information.

Best Place To Store Sex Toys
Keeping your sex toys close is an excellent option as it keeps you from having to disrupt hot and heavy foreplay so that you can get your playthings.
Keep Them In The Night Stand
One of the most common places for people to hide sex toys is in their nightstand. This can also allow you to run your charging cables into the drawers so that you can charge them while they are inside the drawers. If you are concerned about people getting inside your nightstand, you can use a lockable box that is easy for you to open but requires a combination.
Storage Bins
Storage bins that are not transparent can be discreet and fit nicely under the bed. Still, this is a good place for kids to find them, so you can also get a lockable storage bin should you need to keep people out.
